# Reject a lead

PUT https://api.jazzhq.ai/api/v1/vendors/leads/{leadId}/reject
Content-Type: application/json

Rejects the lead, optionally recording why.

Safe to retry, first write wins: re-rejecting an already-rejected lead keeps the
comment that originally landed. An approved lead cannot be rejected.

## Authentication

- `X-API-KEY` header (required) — Your vendor API key. Required on every request under /api/v1/vendors/**.

### Path parameters

- `leadId` (long, required) — ID of the lead.

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects a RejectLeadRequest.

- `comment` (string, optional, nullable) — Optional reason for the rejection.

## Errors

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Authentication failed - the X-API-KEY header was missing or invalid, or the request path is outside the /api/v1/vendors/ namespace this key is authorized for.

### 409 Conflict Error

The request is well formed but conflicts with the lead's current approval state - approving a rejected lead, or rejecting one that has already been converted.
